Opening paragraphs
One:
Action: Opening
sequence music starts to introduce the radio drama.
Barry: what are
you playing at Rooney, you should have scored that.
Action: Doorbell
rings, Barry makes a sigh noise. The door opens.
Simon: Hey Barry,
sorry to disturb you, but I can’t find my phone and I think I may have left it
here when we were chatting earlier this morning.
Barry: No worries
come on in Simon and have a look around for it.
Action: Door
closes and Simon starts looking for his phone while Barry settles back down in
front of the TV to watch the football match.
Two:
Action: Sound of
footsteps as Simon walks towards Barry’s front door. Changes to a crunching
noise as Simon enters the drive and starts walking on pebbles and gravel. He
shivers and chatters his teeth from the cold.
Action: The
doorbell rings as Simon presses the button. The sound of a television is coming
through the door in a muffled tone.
Barry: (warily)
coming, one second. Who is it?
Simon: (desperately)
it’s me Simon! Let me in, it’s bloody freezing out here!
Barry: coming,
coming
Action: Door
opens and Simon steps in and high-fives Barry.
Simon and Barry
together: High five!
Three:
Action: Barry was
in the shower. The shower is making a noise.
Action: The
doorbell rings twice. Barry turns off the shower.
Barry: Who is that!?
Simon: It’s me,
please let me in mate.
Barry: (annoyed)
it’s two in the morning, what are you playing at!?
Simon: (knocking
on the door again) Please let me in man, I need your help!
Barry: (angry) ok
in coming,
Action: Footsteps
sound as Barry walks down the stairs to the door and opens it.
Simon: finally,
listen I re… erm why are you completely naked.
Barry: I had a
shower and now hurry up and tell me what’s wrong.
Script for “where did I leave my phone” radio drama
Action: stands for a sound that is made in the script
that the actors don’t make such as birds or a door slamming.
Scene One:
Action: Opening
sequence music starts to introduce the radio drama.
Barry: what are
you playing at Rooney, you should have scored that.
Action: Doorbell
rings, Barry makes a sigh noise. The door opens.
Simon: Hey Barry,

Barry: (sounding
irritated) 3-0 to wanderers.
Simon: That’s
terrible, how can we be playing so badly.
Barry: I don’t
know, do you want a drink by the way?
Simon: (sounding
despaired) No thanks, my phone doesn’t appear to be here damnit.
Barry: Well you
could always try Tom’s place, didn’t you visit him earlier before me?
Simon: Good idea,
I’ll head there now. I’ll let myself out. See you soon.
Action: Door
opens.
Barry: Yeah, see
you later, say hi to Tom from me.
Action: Simon
exits house closing door behind him.
Scene Two:
Action: Short
musical note sounds to alert the audience that the scene has changed.
Action: Sound of
Simon walking on gravel towards Tom’s house and him then knocking on the door
making a shivering sound.
Tom: (on other
side of door sounding angry) who is it!?
Simon: It’s me Simon.
Tom: Oh (sounding
less angry)
Action: Door
opens and Simon walks in closing the door behind him. Tom his on the phone to
someone and shouting at them.
Tom: Why have you
decided to tell me this now just before were about to do it!
Simon: Hey Tom,
do you mind if.
Tom: (angrily
cutting Simon of) Hold on a second Simon.
Tom: So your
bailing out on me are you? (Pause) right well screw you then.
Action: Tom hangs
up and then bangs the table with his fist.
Simon: Mate, are
you alright?
Tom: (calming
down in his tone of voice to almost normal) it’s nothing don’t worry.
Tom: I’m glad you
came by though; I need an extra pair of hands to help me with something.
Simon: Well
actually I came around to try and find my phone.
Tom: (pleading)
Come one please, it would mean a lot to me. After we do this I promise I’ll
help you find your phone.
Simon: Well…
alright then.
Action: Tom grabs
his keys off the table and opens the door.
Tom: thanks
Simon, come on we can use my van.
Action: Door
closes.
Scene Three:
Action: Opening
sequence music starts to introduce the radio drama. Throughout this whole scene
you hear the sound of a van engine (revs, gear changes, accelerating, braking).
Action: Tom
closes his door and starts the engine and sets off.
Simon: So what do
you need me to help you with?
Tom: I need to
pick some furniture up from a customer’s house.
Simon: Ok, this
won’t take long will it?
Tom: No not at
all mate.
Action: Tom hands
Simon a pair of black leather gloves and a balaclava.
Simon: What are
the leather gloves for?
Tom: (uneasily)
To stop you from getting splinters when you pick up the furniture.
Simon: Ok, but
then what is this balaclava for.
Tom: Simon listen
mate, I kind of lied to you about what I needed your help with, but its ok
because it’s not a big deal.
Simon: (reassured)
Oh ok, well what is it then.
Action: Tom stops
the van and pulls up on the side of the road, switching off the engine. Further
ahead of them is a bank.
Tom: Basically, I
need you to be my wingman in robbing this bank ahead of us.
Simon: (shocked/
agitated) Are you kidding me. That’s a very big deal and there is no way I’m
helping.
Tom: Come on man,
I need the money and I owe over eight months of rent. Just this one time help
me do this.
Simon: (firmly
and angrily) Tom there are ways of making money to pay of your rent but this is
not the right way. I’m leaving now, sort yourself out and get some help.
Action: The door
sounds as Simon opens it to get out. It slams shut suddenly when Tom reaches
over and closes it, stopping Simon from being able to exit the van.
Simon: What are
you playing at, unlock the door.
Tom: (menacingly)
Yeah your right, I should let you out just so that as soon as I’m out of sight
you can call the police.
Simon: Tom, I
swear I wouldn’t do that now please just let me go.
Action: Tom
thumps the dashboard in frustration.
Tom: Don’t
bullshit with me Simon. I’m not an idiot. You’re staying with me and you’re
going to help me through this.
Action: Tom pulls
out a gun (pistol) and aims it at Simon.
Simon: (shocked
and panicked) Where the hell did you get that gun from, and for god’s sake stop
pointing it at me, I’ll help you OK!?
Tom: (happy)
Good, now you see if you’d just gone along with this plan from the beginning we
wouldn’t have had to have this nasty experience. Now no more questions. I say
and you do, now put on your balaclava, get out of the van and follow me.
Action: Van doors
slam twice as Simon and Tom both exit the van.
Scene Four:
Action: Opening
sequence music starts to introduce the radio drama. Door sounds as Simon and
Tom enter the bank and sounds again when they close the door behind them.
Action: Footsteps
sound as Tom and Simon walk towards the bank booth.
Banker: (cheesy)
Hello, what can I help you two with.
Tom: (intimidating)
Well for a start you can start putting money in this bag. And be quick!
Banker: Now now
sir, you know I can’t do that. You’re going to have to wait here while I call
the p…
Action: Sound of
a pocket zip being undone and pin being pulled back on a pistol as Tom takes
his gun out from his pocket and aims it at the banker.
Tom: I think
we’ve had a misunderstanding, do you know what this is that I’m pointing at you
right now?
Banker: Yes I do,
it’s a pistol, although (hesitate) yes that looks remarkably similar to a BB
gun my son has in his room.
Tom: (agitated) Oh yeah!? Well you’re w…
Action: The sound
of police car siren sounds getting louder as it closes in on the bank.
Tom: Shit! How
did feds know about this!?
Simon: Probably a
panic button, but that doesn’t matter we need to get out of here now!
Tom: Ok follow
me, and take the gun, here.
Simon: (shocked)
No way am I carrying a gun for y…
Action: Tom has
opened the bank entrance door now.
Tom: it’s a BB gun
you idiot now take it.
Simon: (angrily)
Fine, give it here.
Tom: Shit the
cops are right next to the van, see that alleyway to the left?
Simon: Yeah.
Tom: follow me
there and keep up.
Action: Footsteps
sound as Tom and Simon run to the alleyway.
Simon: Ok were
here? Now what!?
Tom: It’s best if
we split up now. You stay here and hide somewhere, why don’t you try that bin
over there. And I’ll keep going further.
Simon: (relentlessly)
I guess so.
Action: Sound of
police shouts and running footsteps grows louder.
Tom: Crap their
coming down here, I’ve got to run I’ll ring you when I’ve found a hiding spot.
Action: Sound of
metal scraping as Simon removes dustbin lid and climbs inside and shuts it
behind him.
Simon: eurghh
this is grim.
Action: police
have now arrived just next to the dustbin.
Officer one: You
reckon they went further down this alley?
Officer two: Yeah,
most likely. But I can’t be arsed to chase them. Besides they’ve probably
already escaped.
Officer one:
(sad) I’ve been in the force for 3 months now and still haven’t caught a
criminal.
Officer two: cheer
up mate, look on the Brightside, I saw a KFC back the way we came, fancy a
bargain bucket?
Officer one: (cheered
up) yeah that sounds g…
Action: Simon’s
phone suddenly starts ringing from inside the bin.
Simon: oh shit.
Officer two: Who’s
in there? Come out now!
Action: metal
scarping sounds again as Simon stands up and shows himself to the cops.
Officer two: Shit,
he’s got a gun!
Simon: it’s not a
gun it’s a BB…
Officer one: Taser
him Taser him!
Simon: Wait, No
no aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Action: at the
same time as Simon starts screaming a zapping noise sounds indicating that
Simon has been shot by a Taser.
Action: ending
theme tune begins.
