Learning outcome four

Learning Outcome Four
Casting for Characters in my production:
Tom: For acting as Tom I have chosen Charlie.
Simon: For acting as Simon I have chosen Elliot.
Barry: For acting as Barry I have chosen Matt.
Banker: For acting as Banker I have chosen Jack.
Policeman one: For acting as policeman one I have chosen Jack.
Policeman two: For acting as policeman two I have chosen Jack.
I have chosen this selection of people to voice act in my radio drama because I feel comfortable and trust them in sensibly helping me to complete the radio drama.

Locations to use for recording my radio drama:
I will be using only one location to record the voices for my radio drama which will be at my house in my room, because it is a quiet environment. Then I can add background sound over the voiceovers for example if the scene is based on the street I would add a recording of a street over the voiceover to give the desired effect.
Location recce form:
Location
Sound to record
My room in my house/ High Wycombe
All the character voices
High Wycombe town centre
Recording the sound of an urban busy street
Barclays bank, Princess Risbourough
Record the sound of a bank.
My car
Record the sound of a car engine starting and driving

Recording equipment list:
The first and most important equipment I need is a zoom recorder.
The second part of equipment I will need is a zoom stand.
The last piece of equipment that I will need is a wind shield. The wind shield will be very important during recording outside because it will stop the wind (if there is any) from distorting the sound and ruining it.
Prop list for foliage sounds:
<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Car keys to make tingling sound
<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Car to make car engine noise
<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Fake gun, to make gun cocking noise
<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Shoes to make footstep noises
<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Walkie talkie to make walkie talkie sound
<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->TV to make a football match noise
<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Door to make door opening and closing noise
<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Dustbin lid, to make dustbin noises and scraping noises
The other sound effects I am getting from a free copyright free sound website called http://www.freesound.org/

Contingency plan:
All of the equipment I am using is mine so there is no need to rely on other people on having the equipment ready on time. And the main location is in my car and at my house so the chances of having to change location or get new equipment are slim.

My contingency plan would be to go to a hire shop I know based in High Wycombe to hire the equipment I need if my own equipment was unavailable on the day.

Production Schedule:
Dates
What is happening

Editing the radio drama together.
19th December
Final edit of the radio drama and showing to target audience for feedback.

Production diary:

29th November: got together with the voice actors for my radio drama and recorded the dialogue for my script. Only got half of the script recorded, I am planning to record the rest tomorrow.

30th November: Met up again with the voice actors after college and recorded the rest of my script in my room. My room is a quiet environment so that makes it easier for putting background noises and sound effects  in at a later date without there being any distortion from my recorded dialogue.

3rd December: Today I recorded all the background noises I would need such as a town street, busy road and a bank. After that I also recorded all the sound effects I possibly could such as doors opening and closing, car engines and footsteps. The rest of the sound effects I am getting from a copy right free sound internet site.

5th December: I added and tweaked parts of my script, so I got together again with the voice actors again to redo some parts and to add some new lines.

6th December: I am now starting the editing for my radio drama. So far I have added all of the voice actor’s dialogue. I did this in sequence order. The script dialogue is the scaffolding for all the rest of the sounds such as background noises and SFX which is the reason I added this first.

8th December: I have now added all the background noises to my radio drama; I plan to add the sound effects next.

12th December: Today I added all the sound effects to my radio drama finalizing my first draft of my radio drama.

13th December: Found some small problems with some of the edits in my radio drama which I tweaked and rearranged now making the radio drama sound better.

19th December: Show cased my radio drama to my target audience (youths). Positive feedback with a few suggestions of changes I could make, which I did when I got home. Final edit is now complete.

Bibliography:
For my researching into the topic, I found most of my answers from sites given to me from this website.

The copyright free website I used to get some of my sound effects from was the site listed below.

Evaluation:

What went well?
My final radio drama went very well. After getting feedback from my target audience that I took onboard, I made tweaks to my radio drama and improved it to its full potential. It was a great feeling. i also feel that I was very good at keeping my work organised such as making seperate folders for different types of sounds and also meeting my deadlines.

What was less successful?
The one main problem I had was distortion noises caused by some of the dialogue recordings from my microphone. When I had made my first draft for my radio drama, i found the distortion noise. i managed to getr id of the majority of it by fading it in and out.

How have you imrpoved your radio drama after getting feedback?
After showing my first draft to my target audience. My feedback was mostly posotive but i got some critical feedback such as people pointing out the annoying distortion sound in some dialogue clips which i then altered and fixed. When I improved on all the feedback given to me I showed my second draft. There were no complaints on my second draft and i used that as my final edit for my radio drama.

What would you do differently if you did this radio drama again?
The one thing i would do differently would be to record my dialogue for my ardio drama with a more proffessional microphone to avoid getting distortion sounds.
